Sights / Optics: The front sight is a short, serrated blade fixed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed to the rear of the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece faux-pearl plastic panels with gold-colored Colt medallions. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition as not original to the gun.
Type of Finish: Blue, Gold-fill slide markings.
Finish Originality: Most finish is Original, the slide has been Refinished.
Bore Condition: The bore is gray with well defined rifling. There is erosion and pitting scattered through the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 5/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 96% of its current metal finish. The slide's finish is going to a plum hue on the flats. There is a little bit of loss in the gold-fill on the slide markings. There is some faint oxidation on the sides of the hammer. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun is in Very Good condition as customized.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a french-fit Colt Custom Shop wood display case and a single 7-round magazine.
Our Assessment: This is a Colt MK IV Series ’70 Government Model from 1981. The descendent of the original Model of 1911, it has updates of the 1911-A1 as well as a collet-style bushing to improve accuracy. This example has been customized with the slide refinished and its markings filled in gold, as well as being equipped with a set of faux-pearl grip scales. The result is a visually distinctive pistol that displays well in the included Colt Custom Shop wood presentation case. Please see our photos and good luck!
