Good to Very Good Condition. A sizable chunk missing from one corner of the top lid. The middle portion of the top lid able to be partially opened to view the full contents. Moderate scattered fading, chipping, scuffing, and hairline cracking to the case. Measures 15” x 9 3/8” x 9 1/8”. Features wonderful “REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY” and “NITRO EXPRESS” markings on the case and boxes. The wood case is stenciled all around the exterior, reading “FROM / STATE QUARTERMASTER / BROOKLYN, N.Y” on the body, and “1ST REGIMENT NYG / ALBANY, N.Y.” on the top lid. The New York Guard was formed on October 25, 1940 as a state defense unit, organized to replace New York National Guard units being called into federal service in preparation for WW2. A wonderful time capsule of late 1930s Remington shotgun ammunition, and of New York Guard history.
