Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch integral to the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered white hard rubber with "US" in oval at their tops. Each panel has the assembly number hand-scribed on the interior. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Dome Blue
Finish Originality: Original. The marked parts have matching serial and assembly numbers.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10
Overall Condition: This revolver retains 99%+ of its metal finish. There is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The revolver comes in a two-piece cardboard USFA box with serial-matching label, cardboard sleeve, paperwork including manual, and a brown cloth USFA pouch.
Our Assessment: Colt's Model 1873, the Single Action Army, is the "gun that won the west", perhaps the most iconic handgun of all time. For nearly 150 years, the gun has been produced in a variety of configurations, finishes and calibers. Produced by US Firearms in the old Colt plant in Hartford, Connecticut "under the blue dome" and 100% US made, this USFA single action is a beauty to behold and one of the most intriguing variants ever produced.
Colt themselves made only a very few full-frame Single Action Army revolvers chambered for .22 rimfire, though they produced a number of smaller frame .22s in the mid-late 20th Century. Various other makers have produced rimfire single action revolvers of various quality and Ruger even produces some of their Single-Six line with 10-round cylinders. Nothing compares to the USFA 12/22, though. Built on a full-size SAA frame with all-steel construction, the 12/22 pairs the company's immaculate production quality with an innovative lock mechanism allowing for a shocking 12-round .22 cylinder with chambers offset to utilize a standard firing pin for rimfire ignition.
This is a 12/22 revolver, featuring a 5 1/2" barrel and Dome Blue finish. The revolver is in Excellent condition, appearing to have spent more time in its included matching box than out, and showing no sign of use outside the factory. USFA's 12/22 models were not in production for very long before being discontinued and a boxed example will be hard to pass up for USFA collectors.
