Sights/ Optics: The front sight is a blade integral to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a "U"-notch dovetailed to the rear of the slide. The slide has a solid rib, serrated for glare reduction.
Stock/Grip Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered brown plastic. The grips show light handling wear with some scattered nicks and scratches. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Very Good condition.
Also included is an additional left panel with a thumb-shelf for a right handed shooter, in similar Very Good condition to the installed grips.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Original, numbers match.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates about 10/10.
Overall Condition: The gun retains about 92% of its metal finish. The balance is mostly in scattered tiny spots of minor oxidation, primarily in the grip straps and trigger. There are a few light nicks and scratches. The action shows operational wear. The screw head is lightly tool marked with a strong slot. The markings are clear. Overall, the pistol is in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box Paperwork and Accessories: This pistol comes in a two-piece serial-matching box with matching test-target, French proof certificate, manual, cleaning rod and a total of two 10-round magazines. One magazine has a pinky-extension floorplate, the other has a grip-extension floorplate.
Our Assessment: The Walther PP series pistols are blowback-operated semi-automatic pistols, developed by the German arms manufacturer Carl Walther GmbH Sportwaffen. It features an exposed hammer, a traditional double-action trigger mechanism, a single-column magazine, and a fixed barrel that also acts as the guide rod for the recoil spring. The series includes the Walther PP, PPK, PPK/S, and PPK/E models. The PP and the PPK were among the world's first successful double-action semi-automatic pistols. They are still manufactured by Walther and have been widely copied. The design inspired other pistols, among them the Soviet Makarov, the Hungarian FEG PA-63, the Polish P-64, the American Accu-Tek AT-380 II, and the Argentinian Bersa Thunder 380. The PP and PPK were both popular with European police and civilians for being reliable and concealable.
This is a blued Walther PP in .22 LR caliber made by Manuhrin in France under license from Walther. This pistol has a few interesting features, most notable is its Swedish import mark on the right of the slide, later imported by Simpson who put a much more discrete import mark on the edge of the magazine well. The frame has an extended hammer spring plug on the butt which fits into a pocket on the included grip-extension floorplate magazine. It is a neat find for collectors, especially with its original box, French proof certificate, test target and manual. The pistol is in Very Good condition with honest wear for a 62 year old pistol, likely spending more time in its box than out. It would make a nice addition for a Walther collector.
