Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade with a red insert set on a serrated elevated base that is integral to the rib, which is serrated for glare reduction. The rear sight is a square-notched S&W micrometer sight that is adjustable for windage and elevation.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered wood Magna stocks with S&W medallions. The inside of the right panel has the last four digits of the serial number stamped. The grips have minor handling wear with a few scuffs and small nicks, mostly on the left panel above the medallion. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Fine condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion but there are some scratches and a little stubborn fouling. In this writer's opinion, this bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are a few light nicks and scratches. There is some scattered minor scuffing and swirls. The action shows light operational wear including a thin turn-line on the cylinder. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Very Good-Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a serial-matching two-piece cardboard box with metal corner braces.

Our Assessment: This is a Smith & Wesson Model 67-1, built on the square butt K-frame in .38 Special. It is the stainless successor to the Model 15, which is one of the company's best selling handguns. This one is from 1977, it is a 4" version and should do well for all weather carry, treat it right and it will last for generations. The .38 Special cartridge was used in both World Wars and in the '70s when this one was produced, it was the still a cartridge commonly used by law enforcement across America. This one has a nice bore and good mechanics, it will be a pleasure to shoot as most Smiths of this era are. With modern ammunition, it is both a great defensive cartridge with a usually reasonably priced target round. Please see our photos and good luck!
