Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post screw-secured to a base fixed to the front of the barrel. A plain patridge blade is also included. The rear sight is an Iron Sight Gun Works square notch adjustable for windage and elevation in a base screwed to the topstrap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece smooth black micarta. The grips have a few scattered light nicks and scuffs. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 97% of its finish. There are a few scattered minor marks. There is some more notable scuffing on the bottom of the barrel behind the ejector tab. The action shows minor operational wear with a faint, incomplete turn-line. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a two-piece faux-wood cardboard Freedom Arms box with serial-matching label, manual and the additional front sight with installation tool.
Our Assessment: The 353 Casull is Freedom Arms' large-frame .357 Magnum, a play on their 252 (.22) and .454 (.45) caliber variants. While chambered for .357 Magnum, the revolver was specifically designed to be able to handle a remarkably powerful iteration in the .357 cartridge, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved with the platform. Engineered to maximize the potential of the .357 Magnum cartridge case, the 353 Casull can handle significantly heavier loads, a feat that's typically unattainable in other revolvers. This enhanced capability primarily stems from its ability to withstand higher pressures without compromising safety or performance.
One of the most impressive aspects of the 353 Casull is its ability to achieve muzzle velocities exceeding 1600 feet per second when loaded with a 180-grain bullet. The rifling is 1:14" to better stabilize these heavier projectiles. This level of performance significantly surpasses that of traditional .357 Magnum rounds, providing a substantial increase in both range and stopping power. Such ballistic characteristics make the 353 Casull an ideal choice for handgun hunting, especially for small to medium-sized game like deer, and in metallic silhouette competition where precision and impact are crucial.
This example, made February 19, 1992, is the 353-SC, intended specifically for use in IHMSA competitions, but includes a standard iron sight and can be set up for handgun hunting as well. The revolver's design, emphasizing strength, precision, and reliability, complements the high-powered nature of the Casull-load cartridge.
