Sights / Optics: The front sight is a quarter round blade fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a square groove in the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth walnut with gold-colored Colt medallions. The interior of each grip has "000" hand-written. The grips have only light handling marks with a little finish loss on the medallions. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: Blue and Gold

Finish Originality: Original, numbers match.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 95% of its metal finish. There is some light handling wear in the grip areas. The hammer has some flaking on the right side with a little minor oxidation where the finish is missing. The blued finish is strong throughout. The screw heads are sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning will be required to meet your standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a two-piece cardboard box with the serial number hand-written on the bottom of the tray, Colt 125th Anniversary medallion and a 1961 dated Colt invoice for a 125th Anniversary Colt SAA made out to Kenlee Sales Co. in South Houston, TX. Oddly, the receipt appears to have a different serial number with "700 A.M." hand-written.

Our Assessment: This is a beautiful 2nd Generation Colt Single Action Army revolver built in 1961, less than a decade after they reintroduced the SAA. The 2nd Generation Colts are the favorite of many, and for good reason. They are built as well as the 1st, and by the returning WWII soldiers. This one is especially attractive with the deep blue finish and gold accents, made to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Colt's Patent Firearms. The revolver is in about Fine condition, showing signs of handling but little use. This is a neat find for the collector, shooter or cowboy. Please see our pictures and good luck!
