Sights / Optics: The front sight is a small silver bead mounted to the rib. The rib is finely checkered.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set is a two-piece checkered walnut with a round profile forend, and the stock is straight hand grip, straight comb stock with Decelerator butt pad. The shotgun has sling swivels. The cast is slightly right handed and the LOP measures 14? from the front trigger to the back of the butt pad. The drop at comb is 1 3/8ths” and the drop at heel is 2”. The shotgun weighs 6lbs 15oz. The wood shows scattered minor surface level lines, compressions and a few small nicks. The right rear edge of the forend shows a repaired chip. There is a notable rub mark in the toe. There are no cracks. The butt pad is soft and pliable showing minor rub marks. Overall the furniture set is in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The smooth bores are very bright. There is no erosion or pitting in the bores. There is plastic minor fouling and lines from use present in the forcing cones. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 95% of its finish. The barrel and receiver show scattered surface rust freckles and small oxidation spots. The lower barrel and lower portion of the block show rub wear and some finish loss. The tang lever has turned plum. There is a notable nick in the left edge of the rib just back from the muzzles. The markings are clear. The screw heads are sharp. Overall this shotgun is in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The action locks up tight with no play. The safety/selector does not set automatically but it functions properly when set manually. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Beretta S 57E was manufactured in 1973 and is a classic example of Beretta's reputation for producing durable, well-balanced sporting shotguns. Chambered in 12 gauge, it features 28-inch barrels with fixed Full over Modified chokes, making it an excellent all-around field gun capable of everything from upland birds to waterfowl and clay targets. Built on Beretta's proven action, the S57E is fitted with traditional dual triggers, allowing the shooter to instantly select either barrel without the complexity of a barrel selector. A particularly interesting feature is the hinged, spring-loaded front trigger shoe, an ingenious design intended to reduce the chance of the shooter's finger striking the front trigger under recoil when firing the rear trigger, a thoughtful touch that reflects Beretta's practical engineering.
The shotgun is fitted with an attractive coin-finished receiver that complements its understated Italian styling, along with a straight-hand walnut stock that provides fast, instinctive handling and a classic game gun feel. A Decelerator recoil pad helps tame recoil while preserving the shotgun's field-ready character.
