Choke: The left choke shows a constriction of .025, Full, Fixed and the right choke shows a constriction of .004, Skeet, Fixed.

Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a metallic bead at the muzzle.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two piece checkered walnut with a semi-pistol grip, straight comb, checkered rear of the buttstock, and splinter forend with anson release. There is an oval metallic inlay in the belly of the buttstock. The receiver is scalloped. There are scattered handling marks and compressions. There are no chips or cracks. There is a very small loss on the forward right edge of the forend. The checkering holds some definition but areas have been smoothed. Some of the borders have lost their edge. The LOP measures 12" and 13" from the front of the triggers to the rear of the buttstock, respectively. Overall, the stocks rate in Very Good condition. Slightly cast off.

Finish Originality: Original.

Bore Condition: The smooth bores are bright. There is faint erosion in the left bore. The right bore is free of erosion. In this writer's opinion the left bore rates 8/10 and the right bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 65% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish on the barrels is strong throughout. Most of the case color has muted to a silver. The protected areas retain some case color. There is intermittent oxidation. There are a couple small nicks on the muzzles along with some finish loss. There is light scattered handling wear with some minor thinning on the leading edges. The screw heads are sharp to lightly tooled marked with strong slots. The markings and engravings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly including the split ejectors. The lockup is solid with no play. The shotgun’s action automatically returns to “SAFE” when the break-lever is actuated and functions properly when manually set. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This 1928 Belgian scalloped boxlock double represents the refined Liège tradition of sporting gun manufacture during the interwar years, a time when Belgian makers supplied well balanced, attractively finished doubles to the international market. Chambered for 2 3/4 inch 20 gauge shells and fitted with 28 inch barrels, this configuration offers a slightly longer sighting plane while maintaining the lively feel expected of a sub gauge field gun. The scalloped receiver profile, split ejectors, and Full and Skeet choke pairing give the gun both visual distinction and practical versatility across a range of shooting distances.

The shotgun retains approximately 65% of its original finish, with excellent coverage on the barrels and receiver largely silvered from muted case color, still preserving traces in protected areas. The smooth bores are bright, rating 8 out of 10 on the left with faint erosion and 10 out of 10 on the right. Weighing just under six pounds, it carries lightly in the hands, and the walnut stocks remain in Very Good condition with only minor handling marks and a small loss at the forward edge of the forend. With solid lockup, properly functioning split ejectors, and clear markings throughout, this Belgian double offers classic European styling in a practical, field ready configuration.
