This antique Imperial German Model 1889 infantry officer's dress sword features a straight 31.5-inch steel blade. The upper face of the blade is decorated with a beautiful, authentic acid-etched floral scrollwork pattern. The solid brass hilt assembly incorporates a classic folding teardrop-shaped guard flap that sits securely over the blade ricasso. Wrapped around the wire-bound ribbed grip is the original cloth portépée sword knot complete with its bullion tassel. The accompanying single-ring dark steel scabbard remains fully intact and functional. Both the metallic components and the historical textile elements show a beautiful, completely natural age patina from long-term storage.
