The “bowie” knife has been symbolic of rugged American frontier individualism since Jim Bowie first used his namesake weapon in the Sandbar Fight on the Mississippi River in 1827. This Antique 19th Century Hand Made Stag Handle “Mountain Man” Bowie Hunting Fighting Knife is in Good condition, with moderate sharpening and chipping to the blade edge, moderate patina at each side of the blade, and moderate overall age wear evident. Most interestingly, it features a 15” clip point bowie blade, a nickeled steel guard, and a gorgeous genuine stag handle with dark, elegant natural stippling. The blade remains sharp, and the handle is well formed to be a comfortable one hand grip. It’s unmarked as to its maker or date, though was almost certainly hand made in the latter half of the 19th century, and is a fine example of a rare, original Antique 19th Century Hand Made Stag Handle “Mountain Man” Bowie Hunting Fighting Knife.
