A 7.5” vertical crease extending down from the middle top edge to the upper middle quarter. Measures 25.5” x 15.5”, and remains beautifully matted in a 33" x 23.25" brown hardwood frame. Features the iconic illustration of a cowboy on horseback with a Marlin lever action rifle at the ready, with “COPYRIGHTED 1900 / THE MARLIN FIRE ARMS CO.”, and the name of the artist, the legendary “FREDERIC REMINGTON”, at the lower left and right hand front corners, respectively. The following information graciously provided courtesy of the March 7, 2022 American Rifleman article titled “Marlin Firearms: Back In The Saddle”: “The alert cowboy aiming his gun downrange first appeared in “His Last Stand”, an 1890 Frederic Remington painting of two horsemen with dogs closing in on a grizzly bear. The founder of Marlin Firearms Company, John Marlin, liked the central figure so much that he asked Remington to produce a copy focusing on the cowboy, and that work, “Danger Ahead”, appeared on Marlin’s 1900 catalog cover.”
